As one of the many products and services provided by FZE Manufacturing Solutions, LLC, shaft machining includes such processes as turning, milling, drilling, and threading of bar material to detailed specifications. Using CNC Bar Feed Lathes, CAM programming services, and reverse engineering capabilities, the professional staff at FZE can manufacture custom shaft components for numerous applications.

CNC Lathe Machine

For more than 40 years, FZE – a preferred supplier and manufacturer for several key industries, including agriculture, professional turf care, recreational marine components, hydraulics, ATV & motorcycles and many others – has acquired the equipment, skills and expertise to provide modern, cutting-edge technologies in custom machining & fabrication, including shaft manufacturing.

Our shaft machining processes include turning, drilling, boring, tapping, burnishing as well as various forms of turning such as contour, form, taper, and straight turning. From multi-axis equipment to custom fixturing and tooling, FZE’s facility houses everything needed to produce highly precise shafts with minimal tolerances of (+/-) .0002″.

FZE can work with more than three dozen types of raw materials, including standard, exotic, and precious metals, plastic polymers, and others such as wood, graphite, and ceramic. We can work with a wide variety of part sizes:

  • Diameter: Our minimum part diameter is 0.1″, and our maximum diameter is 15″.
  • Length: The part length needs to be at least 1″ and no more than 60″.
  • Face Groove Depth: The face groove depth should be a maximum of 1″.
  • Weight: Our maximum shaft weight is 200 lbs.

As a leader in the industry, FZE employs Lights Out / Unmanned and Lean manufacturing processes, as well as, Kaizen/5S and Six Sigma Certification, to ensure our clients receive the highest quality products and services manufactured in the most sustainable way possible.

All fabrication and machining jobs require individual attention for accuracy, so please allow the professional and friendly staff at FZE to work on a custom shaft machining quote for your unique requirements. For high priority orders, make sure to ask about our expedited rush and emergency services.

Benefits of Shaft Machining

Shaft machining offers benefits that are sure to optimize productivity:

  • Accurate: To accurately and quickly produce complex parts, these shafts can often be made of more rigid materials than those used for casting and forging, making them suitable for heavier industrial use.
  • Precise: Machined shafts offer precise control over dimensions – even under challenging applications – with minimal waste.
  • Easy to modify: Shaft machining allows items to be modified quickly and easily should there be any changes once the item has been produced, as well as providing efficient and repeatable results each time it is used.
  • Large Volume: FZE can cater to large volume shaft machining services, which can help the customer save time and money with quick lead times and competitive prices.

These advantages make shaft machining ideal for many industries when producing complicated parts with tight tolerances.
